Students and staff from Team Pegasus visited the library last week to watch a live webcast of Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series. Broadcasting live from the Empire State Building, Rick read from the fifth and final book in his "Heroes of Olympus" series, "The Blood of Olympus," and answered Greek mythology questions from schools across the country. The half hour webcast will be shown to other classes throughout the school year, or you can click here to watch.

The webcast was one of several ways Scotts Ridge Middle School students are celebrating the FREADOM we have in this country to choose what we'd like to read as part of Banned Books Week. Banned Books Week is celebrated during the last week in September each year, when banned and challenged books are on display in public and school libraries across the country. To learn more and see suprising examples of books that have been banned over the years, stop by the library.
